How to Break Free from Comparison and Live Your Best Life with God

Comparison has been one of my biggest insecurities. Walking a path that often felt like it only made sense to me, I’ve faced moments where comparison crept in and stole my joy—over my choices, my dreams, my desires, and the way my life looked next to everyone else’s.

Choosing not to go to college brought a wave of insecurity into my life, amplified by how others treated me for making that choice. I chose a different path because I wanted to pursue something I loved with my whole heart—though, at the time, I wasn’t even sure what that was. While everyone around me seemed to have their lives neatly mapped out with degrees, career plans, and picture-perfect milestones, I spent my early twenties wandering, traveling, searching for purpose, and ultimately, finding God

For so long, I felt like I didn’t fit in. Like I was always walking a different road, and I questioned if I was getting it all wrong. But little by little, through building a relationship with God, I began to understand that God has a purpose for me—one only I can fulfill.

God doesn’t design us to fit into a mold. He doesn’t create us to copy and paste someone else’s life. Instead, He calls us to live boldly and authentically in the gifts, talents, and calling He’s given us. Your life isn’t supposed to look like anyone elses, and that’s a beautiful thing.

When I look back now, I see God’s hand guiding me every step of the way. All those moments of doubt, wandering, and questioning led me here—to a life where I get to sit in a coffee shop on a quiet Saturday morning, pouring my heart into a blog I love. And even more, a blog that allows me to glorify God in a way that feels so deeply true to who He created me to be.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God’s plans are personal, intentional, and perfectly-made for you.

So if you find yourself scrolling through Instagram, feeling less-than because your life doesn’t match the highlight reels you see online—please pause. Ponder. Take a deep breath. And remember this:

Your life was made for so much more. Your gifts, your calling, your journey—it’s all uniquely yours. God doesn’t want you to be anyone other than who you are.

Comparison will always try to steal your joy, but God’s truth anchors us in something far greater. He promises hope. He promises purpose. And He promises a life that is uniquely, beautifully, yours.

Lean into Him, trust His timing, and keep walking boldly on your path. Your story isn’t supposed to look like anyone else’s—and that’s the most freeing truth of all.

And remember, sweet love, you are exactly where you need to be. Your journey is unfolding beautifully in God’s perfect timing. Keep your eyes on Him, trust the process, and celebrate every small step. You are so loved, so valued, and so worthy—just as you are.

Praying so much for you,
Laura <3
