Dreaming Bigger with God: Taking the Leap of Faith

Faith Over Fear: Taking the Leap

When I first felt called to start Her Sunday Best, I was so excited—and absolutely terrified. I kept thinking, Who am I to do this? Imposter syndrome followed me everywhere, with thoughts like, I’m not good enough, not influential enough, and I definitely am not ready enough creeping in every time I tried to take a step forward.

But if you've ever had a God-sized dream and felt you didn’t measure up, know you’re not alone. My journey of bringing Her Sunday Best to life has been a series of faith-filled leaps, tearful prayers, and so many lessons. Here’s what I’ve learned: When God calls you to something, it’s always bigger than you imagine. And when you trust Him with your dreams, the journey becomes one of growth, faith, and unexpected joy.

Stop Waiting for Perfect Conditions

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on this journey comes straight from Ecclesiastes 11:4:
“Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.”

This verse hit me hard because it’s exactly what I used to do. I waited and waited for the “perfect” moment to start—when I felt confident enough, skilled enough, or just ready enough. But here’s the truth: those perfect conditions never came. And they won’t. If we keep watching the wind and the clouds, we’ll never plant the seeds of the dreams God has placed in our hearts.

Starting Her Sunday Best required me to stop waiting and trust God, even when the circumstances didn’t feel ideal. When I finally planted the first seed—writing the first post, building the website—it wasn’t perfect, but it was faithful. And that’s all God ever asks of us.

Here’s What I’ve Learned About Choosing Faith Over Fear

  • Stop Letting Insecurity Hold You Back
Insecurity can be such a dream-killer. For the longest time, I believed the lie that I wasn’t enough. I’d scroll through social media, comparing myself to influencers who seemed to have it all figured out—so stylish, so confident, so successful. I would think, What do I have to offer compared to them?

But insecurity is just fear in disguise, and fear will always try to hold you back right when something amazing is around the corner. If you feel this, remember: God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called. He sees the potential in you that you might not see in yourself.

Reflection Question: What insecurities are holding you back from stepping into your calling?

  • Rely on God's Strength, Not Your Own
Countless times, I almost gave up on Her Sunday Best because I felt it was “too much.” I thought I had to be perfect and have everything figured out before I could start. But that was me relying on my own strength, not God’s.

When I finally let go and started praying for guidance, everything changed. I took things one step at a time, trusting that God would meet me there. It was like my energy and vision expanded as I began to lean on His strength instead of my own.

Reflection Question: Where can you invite God’s strength into your journey today?

  • Dream Bigger, Pray Bolder
One thing I’ve learned: we often dream way too small. Our own doubts and insecurities make us think that our big ideas are too unrealistic. But God dreams so much bigger for us than we can ever imagine. When I started praying bolder prayers—asking God to expand my vision, open doors, and give me the courage to dream bigger—things changed in ways I could never have planned.

Reflection Question: Where can you stretch your faith to ask God for more than you think is possible?

  • Take the Leap—Even When You Don’t Feel Ready
Starting Her Sunday Best was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but also the most rewarding. Ecclesiastes 11:4 reminds us that if we wait for the perfect moment, we’ll be waiting forever. The truth is, we’re never fully ready for the dreams God places on our hearts—that’s why it’s called a leap of faith!

If you’re sitting on a dream, wondering if you’re “enough” to make it happen, let me tell you this: you are. Not because of who you are, but because of who God is. He has already equipped you with everything you need to step into this calling.

Reflection Question: What’s one step you can take today toward your dream, even if you don’t feel “ready”?

Your Dreams Are Worth Pursuing

If there’s one thing I hope you take away from this post, it’s this: your dreams are worth pursuing. Don’t let insecurity, fear, or imposter syndrome stop you. Instead, trust that God has put this dream on your heart for a reason. Believe that He will lead you every step of the way.

Starting Her Sunday Best wasn’t easy, but I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. Each step has taught me about leaning on God, dreaming bigger, and breaking free from fear. And if I can do it, you can too.

So, whatever dream is on your heart, plant the seed today. The winds will blow, and the clouds will gather, but God is bigger than all of it. Trust Him and take that first step—because when you dream with Jesus, the possibilities are endless.

Praying for your dreams,
Laura <3
